I.1 Cross-Chapter Figure Traceability Matrix

Appendix Figure: Cross-Chapter Figure Traceability

The thesis carries 89 figures across Chapters 2 to 10 (re-synced to the List of Figures after the Chapter 8 dimensional rebuild: Chapter 8 = 16 figures; regenerate this matrix and the List of Figures together whenever the figure set changes, so the two stay locked), each listed by title, with a link to its source module, in the List of Figures. Figures are identified by title rather than by a Figure N.M number, in keeping with the thesis-wide title-only convention; this appendix therefore complements the List of Figures rather than duplicating it. Where the List of Figures pairs each figure with the module that renders it, this appendix records, for each chapter, the count of figures together with the data appendices and source material from which those figures are drawn, so that an examiner can move from any chapter’s figures to the evidence behind them. The mapping is given at chapter granularity because the figures within a chapter draw on a common evidence base; for the individual figure titles, see the List of Figures, and where a single figure depends on a specific contract or data bundle, that dependency is named in the figure’s own caption.

Chapter Figures Supporting data and source material
Chapter 2: Literature Review 16 (see the List of Figures) Modularity Definition Corpus Profile and Text-Based Floor Plan Representations Evidence Profile
Chapter 3: Theory 6 (see the List of Figures) Modularity Definition Corpus Profile
Chapter 4: Methodology 5 (see the List of Figures) Evaluation Workbench and Requirements-Design-Evaluation Traceability Matrix
Chapter 5: the standardisation schema 15 (see the List of Figures) SDA Results and Data Package together with the Chapter 5 evidence appendices (figures ambiguity scorecard, cross-channel validation, predicate coverage and deontic force, reproducibility, and corpus integrity metrics)
Chapter 6: the Governed Kernel Architecture 4 (see the List of Figures) Artefact Suite Handoff Contracts (contract HC-6A) and Foundational Mapping Coverage
Chapter 7: the notation 18 (see the List of Figures) RecPol Specification and PlaniSyn Grammar
Chapter 8: the empirical substrate 16 (see the List of Figures) The deposited SDA data package (Chapter 5 artefact bundle) and the four Chapter 8 supplementary-context essays (dimensional modularity and ISO 2848, packing efficiency, polyomino grammar, and topological coupling)
Chapter 9: the generator 2 (see the List of Figures) RecPol Specification and Evaluation Workbench
Chapter 10: Demonstration and Evaluation 7 (see the List of Figures) Evaluation Workbench and the Chapter 10 synthetic-trajectory run logs deposited with the thesis

The per-chapter counts above sum to 89, matching the List of Figures chapter by chapter. The total moved from 88 to 89 in the 2026-06-16 dimensional-rebuild resynchronisation: Chapter 8 retired three composite-coverage figures (pareto frontier, coverage profiles, coincidence families) and added four rebuild figures (base-module lift by cohort, top dimension values, module lift across matching tolerances, module lift by product tier), a net gain of one figure. Chapter 8 therefore carries 16 figures, and the matrix table, the matrix header, and the List of Figures are locked together at that count.

Most figures are referenced only within the chapter that introduces them, which is the expected pattern for an examiner-facing thesis; where a figure is cited from another chapter, the cross-reference is stated at the point of citation by the figure’s title.
